Day 65

Work is so blah now, I feed the animals, water plants, sweep the deck, fold laundry, then after breakfast I clean rooms and putter around. I actually miss making breakfast in the morning, its chaotic but the new girl just doesn’t care about it as much as I did and it shows. So me and Rachel planned to go to kee’I after work and she meets me at the trailer and says she might have scored us a ride with two new gusts, two women from Holland. They end up wanting to go. We explain that kee’I is cool but if they want to go further we know some other cool places. I wanted to show them the black sand beach with the lava cave/tube past the airport. I told them it was before Hupuna beach, but after the airport and they said sure sounds nice. We are about on third of the way there, in town, and she says “just park anywhere along here?” I say again its quite a lot further still, do you know where the airport and Hupuna are, you came in on a plane here right? She is tired of driving so we end up going to some crappy beach by a hotel with sand, but absolutely no safe water. The surf is extremely high and its all, I mean, all rocks underneath. Still, one of the women goes in and swims, gets washed up on the rocks, we are all just sitting on the beach cringing as we watch, contemplating calling 911. She walks up with at least seven different cuts dripping blood. She says it doesn’t hurt, its fine, they just look bad because its wet. It looked bad, but she was fine and a trooper. I just feel like its all my fault. We asked if they were good swimmers and refused to go in the water ourselves so you think they’d get it, but no. So it wasn’t that great of a time, came home and had spaghetti.
