Day 23
Hmm, big breakfast today, again, tomorrow, 16 guests, than we should finally be a little less full. Also this morning Reiner is always watching television when I come up to make breakfast and we say good morning, whatever. This morning, however, he says Marianna fell last night I had to take her to the ER so she might not be up this morning. Anyway here’s the story. She woke around 2am with a leg cramp and went to walk to the bathroom and fell on the doorway. Her head hit the floor or the side of the door, not sure, and split, a big two-inch gash in the back of her head. She also has carpet burns on her back. She passed out and who knows how much later Solei finds her and goes and wakes up Reiner and he wakes her up and there’s a lot of blood and he takes her to the ER where they fix her up with pretty much super glue in the back of her head. Now she has a pretty constant headache, oh she broke a toe, twisted sprained a toe as well. So the dog saved her life and she is doing well, but it was scary. So for work today I swept weed-whacked debris off a steep hill section of driveway to the new houses. I made passion fruit juice and cleaned two rooms. After work Sabina, Jeremiah, and I picked coffee cherries, we’re going to make some real Kona coffee and send a sample to our families: ) The peacocks are screaming, I think a storm is coming, there was some foreboding clouds blowing in from the other side of the island. Anyway, coffee picking. Well you get covered in ants, just picking along and look at your arm and there’s twenty ants making a mad dash for your shoulder. It’s sticky and um, coffee season is really at the tail end. Usually you can strip a whole branch but we did one by one, filled half a five gallon bucket, maybe a little more, but really, even that much was a lot of work. Sabina had lessons from a pro all about growing and pruning coffee plants, what to pick, etc. So we learned a lot while we picked. Its just really awesome to get to do this since I sort of learned about the origin of the coffee I made at work at coffee fest, I feel like a real barista pro, now top make kick-ass latte art and my transformation will be complete. Okay then we went to where we picked the bananas and picked oranges with big hooks on sticks and branch shaking, to five gallon buckets. Then Sabina picked about seven big butter avocados, so excited! We got dropped off at the L&L Hawaiian Barbeque, Jeremiah’s new favorite, and tried the garlic cheesy fries with a veggie burger. Its good, but I get almost instant diarrhea after we eat there, so I don’t think I will anymore. We eat fairly healthy here and I think the grease and fakeness takes a toll on my system. That was definitely too much information, but its part of my day. Oh and we did two loads of laundry today, we’ve only done three in three weeks between two people. I like conserving so I’m glad I brought so many clothes now, almost.
